Andreas Wannerstedt – Oddly Satisfying Volume 2 Item 1

This is a form of animation that shows oddly satisfying contraptions created using animation. I believe that this is an appropriate example of abstract animation because the artist is able to create animations that are seemingly perfect but cannot exist in the real world. He uses shapes and mechanisms of his own invention in this specific piece, in others he does use some “existing” mechanisms. I think what makes it abstract is that he wouldn’t be able to pull the animation from anything real. This appeals to me not only because I am a fan of his work but because of a new trend with satisfying images and sound in modern culture. I’m really just drawn to the effortless look of the animations and how realistic they are. I think it might be difficult to apply most of his techniques to my designs and work because his animations are so complex, but, I am definitely interested in creating something more simple but still satisfying in my work.
